It’s April 24, and I’m back with two sharp NRFI picks for today’s MLB slate.
For my NRFI best bets, I'm circling the Red Sox, Mariners, and Rockies-Royals, which got rained out yesterday.
NRFI Pick Today: Mariners vs Red Sox (-125 at Sportsbook)
Mariners vs Red Sox Odds – Game Time: 1:35 p.m. ET
This pitching matchup is sweet: Bryan Woo vs Garrett Crochet. Woo is 2-2 NRFI this season, mostly due to hard . He's not one to slip up on command, and the Mariners righty will attack the strike zone even if clubs do damage early. That's my type of pitching, and the Red Sox offense hasn't been explosive lately either, batting just .230 in the first inning. I'm comfortable betting a NRFI on Woo's side, knowing that it'll be solely up to Boston to break my bet.
And for Crochet, well, I'm not concerned. The Sox workhorse is the AL Cy Young favorite and owns a 5-0 record. Seattle is no offensive powerhouse, so let's assume this one is in the bag, all at -125.
NRFI Pick Today: Rockies vs. Royals (-125 at Sportsbook)
Rockies vs Royals Odds – Game Time: 2:10 p.m. ET
German Marquez and Cole Ragans headline this interleague battle. Marquez has excelled in the first inning, consistently keeping opponents off the board despite his team’s struggles. He carries a 3-1 NRFI record, and active Royals hitters own just a .527 OPS against him. As expected, Ragans is off to a good start and carries a 4-1 NRFI record into this contest.
The Rockies are batting below .200 as a team, which puts Ragans in a good position to add to his sharp NRFI record. With two reliable arms and sluggish offenses, this matchup is a strong case for an NRFI.
