You want NRFI picks? Well, today, May 27, I'm going in the other direction with two YRFI best bets, as I back two hot offenses to get it done.
NRFI Pick Today: Giants vs Tigers (-120 at Sportsbook)
Giants vs Tigers Odds – 1:10 p.m. ET
The Giants stink at scoring in the first inning lately. Over the last two weeks, San Fran owns a .450 OPS in the first with just a .233 SLG, posing little threat to opposing pitchers. That's why I'm so confident in a NRFI today, even with the Tigers starting Jackson Jobe and his 4-5 NRFI record.
On the other end, the Tigers need to stay quiet. Detroit is 14th in MLB with an .805 first-inning OPS over the last two weeks. Enter Landen Roupp, the man with the best name in the game. The 26-year-old righty has quietly treaded water as a backend starter for SFG and accumulated an 8-2 NRFI record in 10 starts. Overall, Roupp does a decent job in the first inning, pairing a fair 3.60 ERA with a .590 OPS.
We're in good hands with a NRFI -120 in this contest.
YRFI Pick Today: Nationals vs Mariners (-113 at Sportsbook)
Nationals vs Mariners Odds – Game Time: 9:40 p.m. ET
This YRFI cashed yesterday, so I'm going to the well again. The Mariners are the best YRFI club in baseball, per our NRFI betting trends page, and Washington is the hottest first-inning offense in baseball (1.068 OPS) over the last two weeks. Case closed? Basically.
M's starter George Kirby snuck through the first inning in his season debut and then got lit up later on, and Nats starter Trevor Williams owns a 5.40 ERA in the first inning this year, with opponents slugging .556. Now, the case is closed.
